The Greeks' Mulligan

Greeks voted against reality. They want to stay in the Euro and not pay their debts. It is supreme irony that the New York Times should so clearly communicate the delusion and desperation the people are functioning under. They are in retreat rather than confronting reality and articulate a just way to implement necessary cuts for their own people. If they don't grow up, Europe will have to force them to grow up.…See More

An Agreeable Election Discussion: Rove vs Trippi

I consider the following video a critical guide to establishment thinking about election strategy. Note that Karl Rove emphasizes that focus groups are REALLY concerned with American avoiding the fate of Greece and in the next breath says (and I'm paraphrasing) that doesn't mean cutting government only cutting the growth of government. This demonstrates why there are such minor disagreements between Rove and Trippi and they can both appear agreeable. Anticipate based upon Rove's Cheney/Wyoming…See More

GOP "Young Guns" Telling Democrats to Vote for Lugar

The "Young Guns" is a group of appropriators who call themselves Republican who support big spending and have undermined continued attempts by conservatives and Tea Party activitist to reduce spending. http://gopyoungguns.com/Whether it was collapsing the line against the Debt Ceiling deal last summer or pushing massive Transportation pork, inequal justice in the "Violence against Women" Act or supporting cronyism thru the Import/Export Bank. Paul, the RSC and Ryan's Budget

Paul Ryan's budget doesn't offer an alternative to the sequestration that will automatically happen in the Spring under the debt deal. I can't see a budget that doesn't account for those cuts nor is one that balances in 2050 reasonable though I like some of the structural changes he proposes.   We have a spending problem and we are on a path to a worse out come than Greece. We are much more vulnerable to shocks as our financial health continues to deteriorate because we aren't cutting enough…See More

Justice Ginsberg Assumes/Stare Decisis That Social Security is Constitutional

Yesterday Justice Ginsberg suggested there was a correlation between the Constitutionality of Social Security to Obamacare. What is the difference between the government's ability to dictate individuals participate in a government ponzi scheme verses a bloated, ineffective government mandate to buy a product in the private market whose prohibitive current cost, otherwise known as the government caused "crisises", is from State government mandates that expanded into covering costs that should be…See More

Hands Off My Healthcare Rally at the US Supreme Court! at US Supreme Court

March 27, 2012 from 1pm to 4pm
Over the past few years, Americans for Prosperity has worked with coalition groups and activists like you to educate the public on the dangers of the President's health care bill. AFP's Hands Off My Health Care Tour criss-crossed the nation in 2009 hosting over 300 events... and rallies. Then, in late 2009, over 5,000 activists gathered for AFP's Code Red Rally in Washington. We must remind the Court and all of Washington that the President's health care takeover is an affront to free-market…See More

If Cuts Aren't Immediate, They Are Meaningless

Ron Paul put forward his budget with one trillion cuts in the first year and balances the budget in four years, see here http://www.ronpaul2012.com/the-issues/ron-paul-plan-to-restore-america/ Take a good look at it because this is the type of cuts that caused the remarkable recovery in the "recession that wasn't" in 1922.…

Before you dump Santorum, CREW is a leftist group, which is funded by George Soros.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizens_for_Responsibility_and_Ethics...

Roll Call reported in January 2008 that CREW files most of its complaints against members of Congress, and "all but a handful... have targeted Republicans". The article stated that CREW had issued press releases against Democrats but usually had not filed complaints against them, with the exception of Senator Mary Landrieu, a conservative Democrat.[34] CREW defended itself to Roll Call:

"CREW is a nonpartisan organization that targets unethical conduct," [Deputy Director Naomi] Seligman wrote... "Now that the Democrats are in power, they will have opportunities for corruption that were previously reserved to Republicans and it is likely we will see more Democratic corruption."

After the article was published, CREW stated that it was "baseless" and "omitted key facts". CREW also suggested the Roll Call reporter had been prompted by a conversation with Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu, the target of a recent CREW lawsuit at the time.[35]

Roll Call reported that CREW investigated "groups and individuals who are the foes of CREW's donors" as well as a political opponent of one of CREW's board directors, and that CREW refused to disclose its donor list.[34] Donors to CREW include such liberal groups as George Soros' Open Society Institute, Democracy Alliance, Service Employees International Union, the Arca Foundation, and the Gill Foundation.[34][36][37] The Roll Call article also stated that the CREW mission statement had changed since 2005, when it read that CREW "differs from other good government groups in that it sues offending politicians directly" and that it "aims to counterbalance the conservative legal watchdog groups that made such a strong impact over the past decade."

Perhaps we could have a Tea Party WDC open house at the National Press Club, for an evening discussion on Iraq, Afghanistan, foreign policy and foreign aid... I have some great slides and could provide a foundation presentation for group discussion for about thirty minutes and then we run a round table... My wife is a member, so we might be able to get one of the Member's conference rooms for an evening.  It would be interesting to see how many we could get to show up... Just a thought.  Just the fact that the group was meeting at the Press Club might garner some attention...

Lisa,

Yes, the AFIO "Dr. Derrin Smith" is also me.  I am currently in the D.C. area as an advisor to the interagency MANPADs Task Force, following tours in Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon in civilian capacities.  My book, "Humanitarians in Hostile Territory: Expeditionary Diplomacy and Aid Outside the Green Zone" (with Dr. Van Arsdale, printed by Chicago University Press; publicist Left Coast Press) is now on the market, drawing on those experiences.  I look forward to meeting with members of the group.  Best regards, Derrin Smith.
